Purdue NE undergraduate Charles Behrman earns prestigious Goldwater Scholarship
Charles Behrman, an undergraduate student in Purdue University’s School of Nuclear Engineering, has been selected as a Goldwater Scholar, one of the nation’s most prestigious undergraduate awards for students pursuing research careers in science, mathematics and engineering.
Behrman, who is expected to graduate in spring 2027, is a student in Purdue’s College of Engineering and John Martinson Honors College. His selection was announced by Purdue’s National and International Scholarships Office in May of 2026.
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship supports highly qualified undergraduates planning to pursue doctoral studies and research-focused careers. Scholars can receive up to $7,500 toward educational expenses. The award recognizes students with outstanding academic achievement, significant undergraduate research involvement and strong potential to make meaningful contributions in their field.
As he explores graduate programs and future research opportunities, Behrman’s selection highlights both his academic accomplishments and his promise within the field of nuclear engineering.
