The project is a collaboration led by Professor Shaoting Lin of Michigan State University, and co-PI's Professor Wei Li of Stony Brook University and Yu She of Purdue's School of Industrial Engineering.

This summer marked the beginning of the PODAS project, as it welcomed its first-ever interns, Eashvar Srinivasan from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Jaewon Choi Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). Their work offers novel insights into the dynamics of of satellites and debris in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) systems.

Robert Dittus (BSIE '73), MD, MPH, is a member of the School of Industrial Engineering Advisory Council. Dittus has been honored with the 2024 David M. Worthen Career Achievement Award by the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

The award will help Yu and his team research robotic strawberry harvesting with tactile-enhanced grasping and legged locomotion, which may help address labor shortages in agricultural settings.

Professor Gary Cheng has been named the Best Author Award by the International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing (IJEM) in 2024. This prestigious recognition honors his team's multiple submission, based on their groundbreaking work on scalable laser nanomanufacturing platforms for producing nanoalloys.

The award will help fund She's research "Feeling the Difference: High-Resolution Tactile Mapping in Surgery."

The team earned second place for their project titled "Predicting EV Charging Demand: A Novel Approach Utilizing Traffic Flows"

Jackovic, a master's student, is co-advised by Assistant Professor Reem Khir and Isabella Sanders of USMA at West Point.

Industrial Engineering Associate Professor of Practice and Professional Master's Program Director Nga Hin Benjamin "Ben" Fong has been named an IISE Fellow for 2024.

Victoria Houed (BSIE '16) was recently selected to be part of the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy inaugural Tech & Public Policy Visiting Fellows program. Victoria was kind enough to give us an update on what she has been up to since graduating in 2016.
