Jacqueline Linnes, Marta E. Gross Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded a Shah Family Global Innovation Lab Seed Grant to develop a rapid assay for sensitive and specific cervical cancer detection.

The Shah Family Global Innovation Lab has announced its winners for the 2019 Seed Grant Awards. The lab supports a community of faculty, staff, students, and global partners to respond to bottleneck challenges in international development through engineering innovations and market-driven approaches.

Each year, the Shah Family Global Innovation Lab hosts the Innovation for International Development (I2D) Exposition at Purdue University. This event highlights Purdue's incredible engineering innovations focused on addressing the Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, the expo offers a chance for students, faculty, and staff to connect with international development professionals and partner organizations.

Takayuki Miyauchi is a third year AAE student participating in the GEARE program. He is bilingual in English and Japanese and working on his third language; Germany. Taka is currently setting the GEARE program record for most international experience prior to graduation. By the time of graduation in May of 2020, Taka will have spent 24 months abroad. His experiences include a 3 month research internship at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany, where he conducted and analyzed flow simulations using RANS numerical approach.

Anne Dare’s enterprising path toward a Ph.D. in agricultural and biological engineering (ABE)—and a career with the U.S. Agency for International Development as a Middle East wastewater expert—began with life-changing support from Purdue’s Global Engineering Programs and Partnerships (GEPP).
