Recognizing technical accomplishments and educational goals and achievements, the American Society for Engineering Education's Division of Educational Research and Methods has named ENE doctoral students Shanna Daly and Euridice Oware as two of its four 2008 Apprentice Faculty Grant recipients.
On a snowy Feb. 22, Engineering Education opened its doors to students, staff, and faculty across campus, offering interactive displays, posters, conversation--even a chance at a live Webcam interview--all to introduce colleagues to our academic, advising, and research initiatives.
These Purdue fellowships provide support to outstanding PhD candidates in their final year of doctoral degree completion. Barry's research evaluates methods of assimilating ethics into the engineering curriculum; Matusovich's research explores the intersection of achievement motivation and students' decisions to study engineering.
The National Science Foundation has awarded ENE faculty member Robin Adams a grant through its prestigious Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) program, funding the research “Intentional Serendipity, Cognitive Flexibility, and Fluid Identities: Cross-Disciplinary Ways of Thinking, Acting, and Being in Engineering.”
The National Science Foundation has awarded ENE faculty member Monica Cox a grant through its prestigious Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) program, funding the research “An Examination of Graduate Education’s Role in Preparing Engineering Students for Careers in Academia and Industry.”
The I2I Learning Lab puts design at the heart of engineering education, providing team-focused, collaborative studios that form a physical representation of the design cycle.
Established as a department within the College of Engineering in 2004, Engineering Education is now a school, following a February 8 vote by Purdue's board of trustees.
How to educate the "Engineer of 2020"? Ask our faculty, many of whom are featured in Purdue's Engineering Impact magazine in the cover story "Remaking Engineering Education" (Winter 2007-08).
Lafayette’s Journal and Courier ran the article “Inspiring Future Engineers” on November 7, featuring ENE faculty member Brenda Capobianco’s pilot study in elementary school classrooms.
