YOUR ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE IS THE SECRET INGREDIENT

We're training AI to read blueprints and enforce building codes—but we need engineers who actually understand what the codes mean.

THE PROJECT: Develop a prototype AI system that:

• Reads construction blueprints (architectural, MEP, structural)

• Compares designs against IBC, NEC, IPC, IMC, IFGC codes

• Identifies violations and explains compliance requirements

• Flags safety risks before construction begins

YOUR ROLE: You'll work alongside ML engineers, but your job is different:

✓ Translate engineering codes into logical rules AI can follow

✓ Validate that AI correctly interprets technical specifications

✓ Create test cases from real building failures

✓ Explain why violations matter (structural integrity, fire safety, etc.)

EXAMPLE TASKS:

• "Teach the AI that electrical panels need 36" clearance—and why"

• "Build validation tests for HVAC duct sizing compliance"

• "Create training data showing proper vs. improper structural load paths"

WE NEED YOUR MAJOR: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Architectural Engineering students who've taken:

• Building codes/construction management courses

• Systems design courses (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)

• Structural analysis or construction materials

SKILLS YOU'LL GAIN:

→ AI/ML fundamentals (no coding experience required—you will work along with CS majors)

→ Cross-disciplinary collaboration (engineering + computer science)

→ Regulatory compliance expertise (valuable for PE licensing)

→ Product development experience (prototype → production

IMPACT: Your domain knowledge will make AI smarter and construction safer.

COMPENSATION: Paid internship
