Michael Harris, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, has been elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Prof. Alden Emery, a beloved faculty member for generations of students, passed away.

The U.S. Department of Energy announced on April 27 its plans to fund two large Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRC) involving ChE faculty: Center for Direct Catalytic Conversion of Biomass to Biofuels (C3Bio) at $20M, and Institute for Atom-Efficient Chemical Transformations (IACT) at $19M.

Antonios Mikos, (PhD ’88), the J.W. Cox Professor in Bioengineering, Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University, received the 2009 ChE Lectureship Award presented by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). The lecture titled “Building a Better Biomaterial" will be presented on June 15, 2009.
