WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Rajamani Gounder, the R. Norris and Eleanor Shreve Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, has been appointed editor of the Journal of Catalysis, published by Elsevier.

Editors are chosen from an international pool of prominent researchers who have made significant advances in the field of catalysis. In this role, Gounder will oversee scientific manuscripts through the peer review and publication process to maintain the journal’s high standards of scientific quality.

Before this appointment, Gounder served in editorial roles for Science Advances, Reaction Chemistry & Engineering and Annual Reviews of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

Launched in 1962, Journal of Catalysis is the flagship archival journal for research on heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis. Purdue has a longstanding legacy of editorial leadership with the journal. W. Nicholas Delgass and Enrique Iglesia previously served as editors-in-chief, and Fabio H. Ribeiro served as an editor.

“I am honored by this selection to join the editorial board of Journal of Catalysis and look forward to serving the scientific community in this role,” Gounder said.

Gounder joined the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering in 2013. His research focuses on the fundamental science of catalysis and its practical applications to develop sustainable routes to synthesize chemicals and energy carriers, and to mitigate their environmental impacts.
