Harsh Wardhan Aggarwal | Industrial Engineering
Senior Product Manager, Technical, Amazon
Purdue's strong foundational engineering principles have enabled Harsh Wardhan Aggarwal's success as a product manager in industries from oil and gas to astronautics and IT. He began his career at SLB, where, within one and a half years, he was promoted - something that generally takes years to achieve. Then, he was appointed one of the youngest human computer discipline scientists at NASA's Johnson Space Center, where he co-authored the NASA Human Factors Design Standard, globally accepted as the bible in this field.
Next, at Google, he led the customer research for the development of the core infrastructure layer that underpins all of the company's worldwide services, including Google Cloud. With more than three billion annual touch points, this service is essential for the smooth operation of countless applications and services. He also led the Google Ads recommendation program, significantly contributing to approximately $1 billion in annual revenue. In January 2024, he moved to his current position at Amazon, heading up the AI team responsible for curating, formatting, and ingesting all internal content for 1.7 million+ customers. This work streamlines access to vital information by tackling the challenge of information overload and enhancing operational efficiency across the entire company.
To address equitable access to career opportunities within the tech industry, Aggarwal runs a free Slack community comprised of 200 students from the top 20 U.S. universities. He provides career guidance and support, directly resulting in more than $5 million in salary negotiations and new job placements.
