Oscar Ojeda | Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering

CEO, Cydonia Foundation and Advisor of the Aerospace line, Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Colombia

Oscar Ojeda's work is driven by a lifelong passion for seeing the aerospace field flourish in Colombia. He advises the aerospace line within the Science Directorate at the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, where - in less than 8 months - he has taken on a leadership role in shaping Colombia's international space engagements and national space policy. He directs interactions with major space industry players like NASA, the Indian Space Research Organization, and the U.N. Office for Outer Space Affairs, and he has represented his country in the Artemis Accords signatory meetings.

In parallel, Ojeda is the CEO and co-founder of the non-profit Cydonia Foundation, where he has led efforts to create the country's first analog research station, HAdEES-C. Cydonia has reduced the participation fee for space simulations by 85% to just $600, making it more accessible to researchers, students, and enthusiasts. Since the habitat's construction in 2022, the foundation has hosted seven crews (44 people) - 50% of them women. Cydonia also has presented research at the International Astronautical Congress three times and NASA's Human Research Program Investigators' Workshop twice. The foundation's strong commitment to the social appropriation of knowledge has led to teaching courses in schools and universities, reaching 2,000+ people and welcoming 400 visitors to HAdEES-C through interactive activities.

As a professor, Ojeda has taught at Universidad de America and in the country's only aerospace engineering program at Universidad de Antioquia. He is an active mentor in schools, universities, and outreach programs with the goal of raising awareness of the space industry's potential and opportunities.
