Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering presented the inaugural Outstanding Nuclear Engineer (ONE) Award to three graduates on Friday, March 24, 2017.

Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering Alumnus Dr. Tom Adams, scientist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division and visiting scholar in the School of Nuclear Engineering; is part of the research team comprised of Vikas Tomar, professor of aeronautics and astronautics; Vilas G. Pol, professor of chemical engineering; Corey Love, scientist at the Naval Research Laboratory. The team received an award for the second phase II of Purdue’s Naval Enterprise Partnership Teaming with Universities for National Excellence (NEPTUNE) Program.

Purdue Reactor staff recently announced the docketing of the License Amendment Request to upgrade the Instrumentation and Controls for Purdue University Reactor One. The amendment application will undergo Acceptance Review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission over the next 30 days.

School of Nuclear Engineering undergraduate student Rokas Venckus has been selected to participate in the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program. Part of the Navy Engineering collegiate Program, NUPOC hires students and provides them with a full-time salary to finish their current degree.

Purdue Nuclear Engineering graduate student Amanda Loveless has been awarded the 2017 IEEE Nuclear Plasma Sciences Society Graduate Scholarship.

Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering Professor Shripad Revankar was recently elected Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Fellow is the highest grade of membership in the professional organization, and is achieved only by election of the organization's Board of Directors.

Three School of Nuclear Engineering Ambassadors participated in the Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) on Feb. 25.

Takashi Hibiki, professor and associate head of nuclear engineering, has been chosen to receive the 2017 Academic Achievement Award of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ).

A paper co-authored by a research team led by School of Nuclear Engineering Professor Rusi Taleyarkhan has received Best Paper Award at the recent American Nuclear Society Winter Annual Conference.

Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering student Addison Lange was recently awarded the 2016-2017 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Undergraduate Scholarship.
