The Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering (NE) is excited to welcome two new faculty members, Hitesh Bindra and Xiaoyuan Lou. They will join the department this fall semester.

Six students from the School of Nuclear Engineering (NE) made the Spring Dean’s List and received Semester Honors. These awards recognize students that achieved high scholastic standing cumulatively and/or for the semester.

On January 20th, 2022, two members of the Purdue University Women in Nuclear chapter, President Liz Bramer and Vice President Morgan Smith, traveled to the Indiana State House with a delegation of their peers to testify in support of Senate Bill 271, in front of the Senate Utilities Committee.

A delegation of students from the School of Nuclear Engineering traveled to the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis in early 2022 to support small modular reactors (SMR). Senate Bill 271 creates a framework for Indiana to pursue nuclear energy alternatives in the form of SMRs. The bill paves the way for the Indiana Regulatory Commission to create rules for considering SMR proposals.

The Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering (NE) held its annual Senior Design Project showcase. A total of seven teams had the opportunity to present their industry-sponsored projects.

Jacob Halpern, undergraduate student at the Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering (NE), received the Astronaut Scholarship, granted by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) .

Destiny White didn’t set out to be the first Black woman to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University’s School of Nuclear Engineering, but on May 13, she did just that. White’s path to nuclear arguably was paved by what she didn’t learn in her primary and secondary education.

The Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering (NE) was honored the host the Alpha Nu Sigma National Honor Society Recognition Dinner. The following students were celebrated and inducted:

Muhammad Rizki Oktavian, doctoral candidate at the Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering (NE), received the Best Paper Award at the 2022 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Student Conference.

Nathan Boyle, postdoctoral research fellow at the Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering (NE), was awarded a US Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Fellowship.
