Srinivasan Chandrasekar, professor of industrial engineering, received the 2019 Milton C. Shaw Manufacturing Research Medal at the annual American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Annual Manufacturing Science & Engineering Conference. The meeting took place at Penn State Behrend, Erie, PA, on June 13, 2019.

The award, presented annually, recognizes an undergraduate and / or a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership during their time at Purdue University.

Purdue School of Materials Engineering graduate students visited Lafayette Jefferson High School to promote STEM fields to high school students. Students learned about renewable energy and worked in teams to build and race solar cars. Thanks to the teachers: Ms.Beck and Mr. Bettag for hosting MSE students!

MSE sophomore, Hannah Burnau and graduate student, Aline Elquist in Washington D.C.

MSE sophomore, Hannah Burnau and graduate student, Aline Elquist, along with MSE head, David Bahr, represented the School at Congressional Visits Day in Washington D.C. During their visit, they met with staff and members of the House of Representatives to share stories of how basic materials research has impacted their careers.
