MSE Senior Awarded NSF Fellowship

Kendra Erk, senior in the School of Materials Engineering, recently was awarded an NSF Fellowship.
The purpose of the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to ensure the vitality of the scientific and technological workforce in the United States and to reinforce its diversity. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students like Kendra in the relevant science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines who are pursuing research-based masterâs and doctoral degrees. NSF Fellows are expected to become knowledge experts who can contribute significantly to research, teaching, and innovations in science and engineering. These individuals will be crucial to maintaining and advancing the nation's technological infrastructure and national security as well as contributing to the economic well being of society at large.

The National Science Foundation offers approximately 1,000 graduate fellowships in this competition and our School is very proud that Kendra has been honored with such a prestigious award. This Fellowship offers Kendra three years of support for graduate study leading to research-based master's or doctoral degrees and is intended for students who are at the early stages of their graduate study.
