The final week of classes means it's time for Purdue ME students to showcase what they've been working on this semester. All these events happen in the Gatewood Wing of the Mechanical Engineering building, and all are open to the public.

Outstanding International Student Mukul Sawant

Congratulations to Mukul Sawant, who was chosen out of Purdue's 9,000 international students to receive the Martin Jischke Outstanding International Student Award for 2019! Mukul is graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in May, along with minors in Business Management and Global Engineering Studies.

NASA selects Purdue to host institute on space habitats

NASA has selected Purdue to host the Resilient ExtraTerrestrial Habitats institute, dedicated to designing and operating habitats on the Moon, Mars, and deep space. Shirley Dyke, professor of mechanical engineering, will lead the $15 million institute.

Adranos Energetics wins Army tech search competition

Solid rocket fuel hasn't changed much since the 1960s -- until now. Adranos Energetics, started at Purdue's Zucrow Labs, just demonstrated a live flight test of their new propellant, and won an Army-sponsored competition over more than 350 other companies.

Freshmen win I2D Expo Poster Competition

Here are the first undergraduates ever (freshmen!) to win the poster competition at the I2D Expo! Tae Hyung Kwon, Cody Kapeles, Linete Taina, and Eva Toscos showcased a project about wind farms in Peru, supervised by Luciano Castillo. The Shah Family Global Innovation Lab hosts the I2D Expo to bring engineering solutions to the developing world.
