Purdue University Mechanical Engineering is opening its senior design presentations to the public on Friday, December 6, 2019!

The National Science Foundation has awarded a $2.5 million grant to the Mechanical Engineering Education Research Center at Purdue (MEERCat Purdue). Collaborating with the School of Engineering Education, the center developed Freeform, a new pedagogical system for teaching mechanical engineering.

It is with deep sadness that we announce Trever Col, a senior in Mechanical Engineering, passed away on Saturday, November 23.

Lucas Allegrette, a Purdue ME undergraduate student, has won an award for his poster, "Numerical Analysis of Stick Bombs."

Taylor Lee, a Ph.D. student under Prof. Eric Nauman, has won a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant, funding a year of study overseas. Lee will go to New Zealand to investigate the risk of rugby players developing short- and long-term neurological deficits. This integrates with her desire to improve the safety of athletes through technology and preventive safety measures.

As part of the Purdue ME class Roller Coaster Dynamics, ME student Krish Kripakaran and Civil Engineering student Dylan Ulaner built this virtual coaster called the "Giant Leap." Roller Coaster Dynamics has been taught by Jeff Rhoads and Chuck Krousgrill since 2009.

Newman Road is now closed to rebuild the old railroad bridge. Anyone visiting Zucrow Labs must take a detour through the Purdue Airport. This detour will be in place until fall 2020.

Anil Bajaj has received the Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award from the Applied Mechanics division of the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).

Congratulations to Ariel (Turner) Gebhardt (BSME '13), just named to the Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame! She was a two-time All-American volleyball player, as well as a two-time Academic All-American.

Purdue University researchers have received a $511,946 grant from the Indiana State Department of Health to perform an MRI longitudinal pilot study of Hoosier veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) who are participating in an experimental treatment. The Purdue Neurotrauma Group includes Purdue ME professor Eric Nauman.
