Celebrating IE winter graduates

The School of Industrial Engineering held a Commencement Reception for graduating IE students on Sunday, Dec. 18. The event was held in the Peter Wang Student Excellence Center in Grissom Hall. In spite of very cold weather, many graduates attended with their family and friends.

“Deploying” to Hawaii for HF research

Second-year IE Master’s student Jordan Hill continued researching human factors topics in a simulated Mars environment by “deploying” to Hawaii for 17 days in November.

Students partner with industry

Twenty student teams presented their finished research project posters at an exhibition on Dec. 8, and four winning teams were announced. Students not only learned about real-world business projects, but served companies by providing practical recommendations for improvements.

Two IE alumni have been elected to the Purdue College of Engineering Alumni Association Board. Sheri Donahue (BSIE ’90) and Jennifer Gattari (BSIE ’85) have been selected as the newest members to the board.

Completing a five-session co-op experience has “more than changed” the life of at least one IE student. Co-ops enable students to gain more experience, build relationships, and grow personally and professionally.

The Purdue University School of Industrial Engineering hosted an Awards Dinner and Ceremony on November 10. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and members of the IE Advisory Board attended the dinner in the Buchanan Room of the Ross-Ade Pavilion.

Associate Professor Steven Landry and former PhD student Ziho Kang received an award from the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society.
