David Pershing, BSChE 1970, has been named President of the University of Utah. He received an Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award from the School of Chemical Engineering and a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award from the College of Engineering in 1999.

Assistant Professor Julie Liu has received a Scientist Development Grant from the American Heart Association.

Anirudh Shenvi, a graduate student advised by professor Rakesh Agrawal, received the Henry Ford Graduate Scholarship from the College of Engineering, Purdue University for the 2011-12 Academic Year.

Ranjita Ghose, a graduate student advised by professor Arvind Varma, is one of the three Purdue recipients of a John Jink Company Graduate Fellowship. The fellowship is for combustion related research. Ranjita works on Oxidative Coupling of Methane to Ethylene.

Professor Robert Squires (born 1935) passed away on November 6, 2011. He served the School of Chemical Engineering from 1962 to 2004.
