Spirrow Therapeutics, a startup cofounded by Purdue chemical engineers, was recently awarded a $256,000 Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The project, Polymer Surfactant Therapy for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (COVID-19), will be conducted in partnership between Spirrow Therapeutics and the laboratory of Professor You-Yeon Won in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University.

Rajamani Gounder, Larry and Virginia Faith Associate Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, has recently been selected as an Associate Editor of the Science Advances Editorial Board. Editors are chosen from a high achieving international pool of researchers who have made significant advancements in their field and strive to promote the importance of interdisciplinary collaborations.

Dr. Vishal Anand, a postdoctoral researcher in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, is part of a Purdue research team that has established a new generalized flow law for elastic microtubes like blood vessels using a combination of advanced fluid mechanics and solid mechanics. Dr. Anand is part of Dr. Vivek Narsimhan's research team.

Four staff members in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering were recently named Bravo Award recipients. Maeve Drummond, Lauren Hays, Jennifer Mamph, and Jason Thorp were among 72 staff members from 13 units in the College of Engineering to recognized. The Bravo Award Program was established by the University in 2014 to provide recognition and rewards for substantial accomplishments achieved by Purdue employees that extend well beyond regular work responsibilities.

Brett M. Savoie, the Charles Davidson Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, will lead one of 25 teams to receive 2021 Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) funding from the Department of Defense as part of the Fiscal Year 2021 competition.
