Stephen Beaudoin, professor of chemical engineering, is serving as the 2021-22 chair of the University Senate. Here, Beaudoin answers questions from Purdue Today about his service in the Senate and goals for the year.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Technology Transfer Program (STTR) has awarded $1M for Phase II research to continue the development of advanced Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) battery technology. Li-S batteries may succeed lithium-ion batteries because of their higher energy density and reduced cost. The batteries can also enable efficient electric transportation such as in unmanned aircrafts, electric buses and other transportation vehicles.

The College of Engineering recognized 54 staff members from 12 units who were awarded with University Bravo Awards this summer, including 7 chemical engineering staff members.

Professor W. Nicholas Delgass passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2021 after a long and courageous fight with cancer to stay with us and to continue to care for us for as long as he could.
