2022-23 ChE Undergraduate Outstanding & Senior Awards

At the conclusion of every spring semester, it is a Davidson School of Chemical Engineering tradition to recognize those undergraduate students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievement and personal excellence. We would like to recognize these individuals for their exceptional contributions in going above and beyond in the areas of scholarship, leadership and impact among their peers.

Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Award

The Outstanding Teaching Assistant award recognizes teaching excellence in senior level courses as voted by the senior students. The recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Award, for the second year in a row, is:

Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship Award

The Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship Award recognizes an outstanding sophomore student on the basis of scholarship and in consideration of their accomplishments. The recipient of this year’s Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship Award is:

  • Jaatani B. Abdi

Outstanding Sophomore Leadership Award

The Outstanding Sophomore Leadership Award recognizes a sophomore student on the basis of their leadership and organizational involvement also taking into consideration technical and academic achievement. The recipient of this year’s Outstanding Leadership Award is:

  • Heather Sledzinski

George T. Tsao Award (Worthy Junior)

The George T. Tsao Award recognizes a worthy junior on the basis of scholarship and in consideration of their accomplishments. The recipients of this year’s George T. Tsao Award are:

Stephen Craig Award (Outstanding Junior)

The Stephen Craig Award recognizes an outstanding junior on the basis of scholarship and in consideration of their accomplishments. The recipient of this year’s Stephen Craig Award is:

Centennial Scholarship (Exceptional Junior)

The Centennial Scholarship, which will help fund the student’s senior year in our School, recognizes an exceptional junior on the basis of scholarship and in consideration of their accomplishments. The recipient of this year’s Centennial Scholarship is:

Outstanding Junior Leadership Award

The Outstanding Junior Leadership Award recognizes a junior student on the basis of their leadership and organizational involvement also taking into consideration technical and academic achievement. The recipient of this year’s Outstanding Junior Leadership Award is:

Outstanding Senior - John Clarence Lottes Memorial Award

The John Clarence Lottes Memorial Award recognizes an outstanding senior student on the basis of scholarship and in consideration of their accomplishments. The recipients of this year’s Lottes Award are:

AIChE Award

The AIChE Award is given to a senior student based on his or her service to the department through AIChE. The recipient of this year’s AIChE Award is:

Omega Chi Epsilon Award

The Omega Chi Award was established in 1961 to recognize a senior student on the basis on scholarship, leadership and character and was later dedicated to Bruce A Wilson. This recipient of this year’s Omega Chi Epsilon Award is:

  • Madeleine Hoffman

Marylin Forney Trailblazer Award

The Marylin Forney Trailblazer award recognizes an outstanding female student whose impact has helped pave the way for women in the field of engineering. The award is based on contribution and participation in the Women in Engineering Program, Women in Chemical Engineering Seminar, and leadership & service efforts within these programs throughout their academic journey. The recipient of this year’s Marilyn Forney Trailblazer Award is:

Gavin Sinclair Award

The Gavin Sinclair award is to recognize an outstanding senior student who has achieved academically while overcoming adversity during their academic journey. This year’s recipient of the Gavin Sinclair award is:

Lindsay Anne Williams Award

The Lindsay Anne Williams Senior Leadership Award honors a senior student based on service to Purdue, service to the community, character and organizational involvement also taking into consideration technical and academic achievement. The recipient of the Lindsay Anne Williams Award is:

Undergraduate Research Award

The Undergraduate Research Award recognizes outstanding students who have participated in chemical engineering research opportunities throughout their academic journey. The award is based on countless hours spent in the lab, papers presented at conferences, and articles submitted to journals. The recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award is:
