AAE Associate Professor Wenbin Yu and his students recently discovered the Mechanics of Structures Genome as a new approach to modeling composite structures and materials. This new approach unifies structural mechanics and micromechanics, two traditional subjects in mechanics of composites, and provides a potentially revolutionary multiscale approach for composites simulation. This theory is implemented in a general-purpose composites software called SwiftComp commercialized by the Office of Technology Commercialization.
