These awards are given to recognize excellence in technical presentation
skills.

Purdue and 16 of its astronaut alumni on Saturday Oct. 27 dedicated the university's Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering, hailing the new $53.2 million building as a gateway to engineering research and education.

Seetha Raghavan, an AAE graduate student working under the supervision of Dr P.K. Imbrie won first prize in the Student Abstract/Presentation Competition at the 44th Annual Technical Meeting of the Society of Engineering Science. Her abstract and presentation was titled, "A 3D Stress Measurement Model for Chromium-Doped Alumina."

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - More than 450 schoolchildren from four states are expected at Purdue Space Day on Nov. 3, when they will meet Purdue alumnus and astronaut Charles D. Walker and participate in a number of space-related activities.

Purdue workers move one piece of the full-scale replica of the Apollo 1 command module into the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering. In 1967, two of the Apollo 1 astronauts, Purdue graduates Virgil "Gus" Grissom and Roger Chaffee, died in a fire during a launch pad training exercise in the capsule.

The Purdue University designation Outstanding Aerospace Engineer recognizes the professional contributions of graduates from the School of Aeronautics & Astronautics and thanks them for the recognition that their success brings to Purdue and the School.

The School of Aeronautics would like to recognize Lindsay Millard for the hard work and technical accomplishment that lead to her receipt of the Best Paper Award at the AAS/AIAA astrodynamics conference. The School and Purdue University are proud of this achievement.

A piece of the moon will find a home at Purdue University on Oct. 6 thanks to Martha Chaffee, widow of astronaut and Purdue alumnus Roger Chaffee.

Purdue plans to dedicate its new $53 million Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering during Homecoming with the help of the building's namesake and at least 14 other university astronaut alumni.
